Failed cavity wall insulation – what this site is for
Cavity wall insulation is effective in suitable homes, but government guidance notes that in a small number of cases genuine problems arise from an installation (GOV.UK). Wet, slumped or poorly installed fill can bridge moisture across the cavity and show up as damp or mould on internal walls – symptoms that are easy to mistake for condensation or "rising damp".
We introduce London homeowners to independent specialists who can survey the cavity and, where needed, extract failed insulation. We don't carry out the work ourselves.
Typical extraction cost
Checkatrade's July 2026 cost guide puts whole-house removal at roughly £1,680–£2,520 (about £21.50 per m²) as a national average (Checkatrade). Urea-formaldehyde (UF) foam usually costs more to dispose of. London jobs are often higher – see the cost guide.
Who we help
- Homeowners with damp patches, mould or cold spots on external walls after cavity fill
- Sellers and buyers whose survey or lender has raised damp linked to cavity insulation
- Owners chasing a CIGA or scheme guarantee who need a clear survey report
Related problems we don't cover here
- Damp cause unknown? Start with an independent damp survey on our sister site.
- Spray foam in the loft? That's a different issue – see East London Spray Foam Removal.
